Liz & Brian had 2 lovely homebirths. Their middle child, however, was born in a high risk hospital in Denver. Liz was 30 weeks pregnant when they received the heartbreaking Trisomy 18 diagnosis, a rare genetic anomaly. They had baby Leaf Alder at 35 weeks, & were able to spend 8 hours with her before she passed away.

They are so eternally grateful someone connected them with a perinatal hospice organization early on in the process. The perinatal hospice walked them through the process of being pregnant, knowing the baby wouldn't be coming home with them... They helped in all the ways...  supporting the entire family's grieving process. Also essential was their amazing support system & grounding faith.

Being pregnant knowing we'd not take Leaf home was incredibly heartbreaking ...and yet now we have a gift to give others, others who are courageously putting one foot in front of the other entering the hallowed grounds of losing a little one.  It's such an honor & a privilege.
